RESPECTFUL GROWTH
Although Grant Park is less than a mile from the heart of downtown Atlanta and its thriving business and entertainment district, it is also a residential sanctuary. As a nationally recognized historical district, Grant Park features many older architecturally distinctive homes in the Crafstman, renovated Folk Victorian, English Vernacular Revival, Shotgun/Double Shotgun and Queen Anne styles. In the 1980s the entire area both north and south of 1-20 was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 1996 the City of Atlanta Parks Bureau commissioned a new master plan for the Grant Park. The consultants working on the plan met with a citizen advisory group that would eventually become the Grant Park Conservancy. The Conservancy works to raise funds to enhance and protect the park for the enjoyment of all its visitors.
